During this trying time, it is important to find ways to make this time rewarding, or at the very least tolerable. Here are a few ideas:
Remember that the quarantine is not only for your own good, but for that of others. While you may have to give up some of your freedom, keep in mind that what you are doing by staying home is very altruistic. Give yourself credit for your self-isolation! By keeping indoors, you are doing good by looking after those whose health may be more vulnerable. There will be ups and downs in your mood, and that is completely normal. Don’t be shy to ask for help when you need it; reach out to your loved ones or to a mental health professional. It is indeed a very trying and serious time for everyone, but you don’t have to be overly serious or feel miserable about it. Try to turn things around and enjoy it! Additional resources may be found on the APT Website: https://www.apt.ac/maintaining-good-mental-health-during-self-isolation.html The application answers are now on the SRAM website. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the College is closed until further notice. For this reason, the admissions office is unable to address application questions by phone or in person. Refused students who would like some feedback can fill out the web form by clicking on http://www.johnabbott.qc.ca/fall-2020-admissions-for-sram-applicants/ which has been added on the SRAM refusal message. The deadline to apply for Round 2 is April 22. The admitted students will receive the admission letter and the information booklet in the mail shortly. Many of the dates in the booklet are no longer valid. The students will be notified in the Omnivox portal as new information is available. Please contact your Guidance Counsellor if you require assistance. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
In an effort to facilitate COVID-19 containment measures, all courses are being suspended for the the time being. Please consult the LBPSB dedicated COVID-19 site for up-to-date information as well as resources to support you as we get through this. Guidance Online Appointments During this difficult time of self-isolation and social distancing, we are offering "virtual meetings" via the Zoom platform. Please email the Guidance Counsellor directly to request an online meeting. You will be sent an invitation to attend the meeting via email. You can attend the meeting either by using a laptop, tablet, smartphone, or even a "regular" phone. You are always free to email your counsellor at any time with questions that don't necessarily require a video conference! Place Cartier : [email protected] PACC Adult : [email protected] CEGEP Admission Decisions Answers will be posted on SRAM for Round 1 on April 3, 2020 for John Abbott, Vanier, Champlain Lennoxville and all of the francophone CEGEPs. Dawson will begin sending out admission decisions in mid-March and will continue throughout the spring. There may be some delays due to the present COVID-19 situation, however Admissions staff at the colleges are working hard to get the admissions decisions out on time. If you have questions about how these delays affect your application, please contact the admissions department of the college(s) you have applied for. Please note that we have put up an FAQ page in regards to CEGEP admissions. Vocational Program Applications Applications to our centres are still ongoing and can be made anytime for programs starting next the fall or winter as long as there is room in the program. Students should apply via the SRAFP.COM site. Applications can be completed at home. A reminder that a hard copy of the application package must be printed and mailed to the Vocational Centre along with the supporting documents as indicated on the application form (birth certificate, Relève de notes etc.) before they will begin looking at your file. Once the COVID-19 situation has stabilized, you will be invited to go to the Centre with original documentation (birth certificate, medicare etc) to complete the registration. |
